The building industry, which is a pillar industry in national economy, has played a great role in national economy with the booming and growth of national economy over the past years. A great number of small- and medium-sized building construction enterprises have made their essential contributions in the sustainable growth of the building industry. Because of the low level of management, the small and medium size building construction enterprises are subjected to a relatively greater market and external impact and the challenges to their survival and development. Without reformation of the management system and taking the efficient management approaches as early as possible, the enterprises would not enter the normal development orbit so that they could be eliminated from the market. Constructional enterprises are oriented to the projects, the key of which, however, is the enterprise themselves. The project management is the primary work of the enterprises. So the medium and small enterprises should focus on their project management, take the safe management as its emphasis, take the contract management as its majority, and take the economic and social profits as the final aim. The realization of the scientific, regulated, programmed, standardized project management could promote the management into a higher level.First, the paper analyses and studies the current situation of the project management of a small and medium size building construction enterprises, and suggests the core issues and resolutions to the issues. Second, the management practice of a certain construction project of the building construction enterprise is dealt with by applying the theory of project management. The paper mainly described a number of basic methods regarding the choice of organization structures, staffing, schedule management, cost management, etc. It is expected that the methods will provide some help for the project management of small- and medium-sized building construction enterprises. Finally, the author has given several suggestions on the project management of small- and medium-sized building construction enterprises.
