The tourist behavior research is an important constituent of travels research. As the main body of the tourism and tourism subject research, tourist was continuously valued by various countries' scholars (Wang De Gang, 1999). Regarding travel behavior, domestic and foreign had the certainly thorough research. The domestic research then assumes the fragment development, divided in discipline in tourist psychology, traveling market study, traveling cultural science and so on, has not formed an intact research chain so far.This article is on the basis of drawing lessons from domestic and foreign achievement to the travel behavior research, using the multi-disciplinary research approach synthetically, broke through traditional general discussion pattern of travel behavior, attempts from tourist's behavior representation to explore the different community foreign visitor's behavior rule, and construct the system of the tourist behavior pattern research, innovates to some extent in tourist's spatial behavior decision, space-time dynamic pattern and the tourist behavior minute different rule research. This article take inbound tourist's travel behavior as the objective point, the four major communities inbound tourists of Shanghai as the concrete research object, Tries hard to summarize Japan and Korean, Southeast Asia, European and the North America tourist's travel behavior pattern and the influence mechanism, provide the basis and the guidance for Shanghai inbound tourism development, And have the model significance to inbound tourism development in other areas.The full text divides into four parts in the structure:First part is for the current situation of the domestic and foreign tourist's behavior research. In the foundation of grasping the massive domestic and foreign tourist circles research materials, it has analyzed the current research situation about the tourist behavior at home and abroad, proposed this article studies theory significance and practice significance, and has pointed out this article research mentality and the method.The second part establishes the tourist behavior characteristic research frame. It carries on multi-dimension analysis to tourist's behavior from such respects aseconomics, geography and psychology, etc, and constructs the theory frame of the tourist behavior research.The third part applies this frame to study Shanghai inbound tourist's behavior. According to "Chinese Traveling Statistics Yearbook", "Inbound Tourists Sample Investigation Material" of the National Tourism Administration, "Shanghai Statistics Yearbook" as well as the foreigners' market investigation material carries on in Shanghai in July and August of 2004. From the travel decision and mechanism of influencing, travel choice behavior, travel space behavior, interactive effect between guest and destination and so on, analysis the tourists from Japan and Korean, Southeast Asia, European and the North America, Thus summarizes a behavior minute different rule of different community inbound tourists.Fourth part is for the expansion of Shanghai overseas tourists market. In the foundation of analyzing Shanghai inbound tourists' traveling behavior pattern, Unifies the present situation of Shanghai inbound tourism development, proposed the corresponding development suggestion from such respect as tourism development, product design, tourist market expanding, tourism management, etc , in order to promote the Shanghai tourism industry sustainable development and the long triangle region traveling economic cycle formation.Through analysis proof, draws the following conclusion:(1) Domestic and foreign research on the travel behavior still had to continue thoroughly, particularly the domestic research still had the big disparity of overseas, the theory and the method system are not yet completely mature.(2) Tourist's travel behavior is a cyclic change process, we should systematize to its behavior pattern research.(3) Travelers social culture background, their own specialties, destination image and marketing propagation not only influence inbound tourists travel decision-making, but also influence tourism activity on the spot and follow-up behavior, then produce the difference. Inbound tourists select tourism project with discrepancy, take homoplasy as the core on travel service facility require, choose travel way according to flexible, diversified principle. Foreign visitors' space moving behavior within the border is influenced by the power of interaction and complementary or substitute effect between destinations. The hope and behavior that different colony foreign visitors communicate with local people is obviously inconsistent, their influence degree has a difference too.
