Peace has been kept for years in Northeast Asia since the end of Korean War. The security structure in Northeast Asia is weak because of the anfractuosity of great powers'interest and disputes about historic and present issues among these nations. Under the out-of-order state, the manifestation of security dilemma is obvious and it gravely affects peace and security in this area. One of the reasons of the generating of security dilemma is due to the absence of security regime. Nevertheless present security regime in Northeast Asia is bilateral security regime which is founded upon the alliance namely the alliance of U.S. with Japan and South Korea. But the alliance regime can't solve the security dilemma in Northeast Asia, furthermore it deteriorates the security situation in the region. Therefore it is necessary to set up a multilateral cooperative security regime which is directed under the new security viewpoint and includes all countries in the region. This dissertation is composed of three parts. Starting with theories of security dilemma and security regime, the dissertation analyzes the present security situation and security regimes in Northeast Asia and explains the effect of these regimes. Based on these analyses, this dissertation discusses the possibility of constructing a multilateral security regime in Northeast Asia and its relevant mode.
