Yangtze RiverDelta, now being developed as a world-class metropolitan economy, is geographically the most competitive region in China. As part of China's efforts to promote regional growth, it's necessary to have smooth regional coordinative development in Yangtze River Delta and establish an administrative coordination mechanism.In light of the elaboration on the importance of regional coordinative development in Yangtze River Delta, the thesis points out that it's extremely important to establish the mechamism that benefits the regional coordinative development.The thesis continues to present the governmental intervention theories and improved Paleto theories based on intervention philosophy reflected by Keynesianism and Neo-keynesianism, thus providing the readers with a theoretical foundation for regional coordinative development in Yangtze River Delta.According to Regional Planning of Yangtze River Delta(2006-2010)(draft) by China's Ministry of Development and Reform, the function of Yangtze River Delta region is positioned as: the most powerful financial center in China, the international portal in Asia-Pacific region, global manufacturing base for advanced products, and the Chinese region that is the first to become world-class metropolitan circle.Therefore, the governments will continue to play a leading role during social reformation and transition. Regional coordinative development in Yangtze River Delta is a long-term and progressive process, which doesn't come true overnight. Due to the fact that the market economy is not yet flawless and that regional protectionism still exists, many problems arise in regional coordinative development in Yangtze River Delta. Ultracompetitiveness among local governments, economy in administrative regions, misplaced governmental agencies and a lack of interaction between regioal legislation and law enforcement all hinder the regional coordinative development.In light of the problems in regional coordinative development in Yangtze River Delta and the experiences borrowed from Japan and European Union, the thesis gives some advice about how to devise regional coordinative development in Yangtze River Delta. Specifically, they are: promoting the systematic reformation, establishing a benefit-compensation system in regional coordinative development, quickening the admistrative integration in Yangtze River Delta, enforcing the interaction of regional law-making and law enforcement. There is a need to see the Shanghai Expo 2010 as an opportunity and further push the regional coordinative development in Yangtze River Delta to a higher level.
