A Study On The PLA Military Training Transformation From 1949 To 1964

From the 1950s to middle of the 1960s, PLA's mainly training missions were to realize the transformation from training to meet emergencies in time of war to normalized training in peace time, from training of single arms of services to training of combined arms of services. According to the requirements of training in peace time, the Central Military Commission has set up an organization of military training guidance, held meetings for PLA's training, established the basic guidelines, principles and systems for military training, constituted uniform military training outlines and all kind of military regulations, ordinances and tutorials under Mao Zedong's thoughts of normalized military training in 1950. All these changes were symbols of the ends of training to meet emergencies in time of war and great beginning of normalized training in peace time.This paper's main body is about military training, which focuses on the inner elements of military training and has studied the changes of PLA's military training in the early days of foundation. Part one has analyzed the subjective and impersonal conditions for military training transformation in the early days of foundation from the following angles, such as the changing war conformations, the development of military technology, the adjustment of PLA's military stratagem and the open of PLA's functions. Part two is the main body of this paper, which discusses about three periods, that is, chrysalis, developing period and perfecting period of military training transformation. This part thoroughly analyzed the practices of the three periods of military training, systematically concluded the historical process of changing from the training to meet emergencies in time of war to normalized training in peace time in the early days of foundation. Part three has analyzed the historical status of military training transformation. At last, this paper has concluded what this changing has revealed to us, which is benefit to offer consultation about the advance the change of PLA's military training mode from military training under the condition of mechanization to military training under the condition of informatization.
