Situational teaching, one of the hot topics in current basic education reform, mainly taking students'emotion as a link, is a teaching approach that is conducted through the creation of real or virtual context. This paper focused on the discussion of how to apply the situational approach to the ideological and moral lessons in middle school.First, this paper began with the understanding of situational teaching to explore the significance of application in ideological and moral lessons in middle school. It pointed out situational teaching can promote students'cognitive development and knowledge construction; moreover it is conducive to the formation of interest, feelings as well as values, and to experience the spiritual growth.Second, from a different perspective, it analyzed the possibility and necessity of situational teaching in ideological and moral lessons in middle school, taking advantage of the theoretical basis of situational teaching, the existing drawbacks in traditional teaching model, the subject characteristics of ideological and moral lessons, teaching materials, the psychological characteristics of middle school students, the curriculum reform requirements of basic education and so on.Finally, on the basis of theoretical research, the author explored the way, pattern design and case studies of the application of situational teaching in ideological and moral lessons in middle school, in combination with his own teaching practice under the guidance of teaching theory. In the practice research, the author conducted the real time self-examination in situational learning theory and teaching practice.
