The Influence Of Multimedia Technology On English Reading Teaching At Senior High School

As we all know, English reading is not only an important way of gaining English knowledge, but also the important content of English teaching at senior high school. It is the major channel to develop the students'comprehension and application of English. However, the present English reading teaching at senior high school is very dissatisfactory. Traditional methods of English reading teaching have many shortcomings, which result in students'poor ability in reading as well as teachers'low efficiency in English reading teaching. Therefore, it is very necessary to work out a new effective mode of English reading teaching so as to improve the present English reading teaching at senior high school. Due to the rapid development of science and technology in our modern society, computers have taken a very important role in the educational field. However, classroom teaching is the main teaching mode in English reading teaching at senior high school. Therefore, the application of multimedia should be based on classroom teaching, combining indoor classroom teaching methods and students'learning activities with the function of multimedia. Only by this method can we greatly improve the teaching process to ensure the good quality of learning and achieve the teaching aim.The aim of this research is to construct a new mode of English reading teaching at senior high school with the help of multimedia. And its feasibility and effectiveness are verified through the investigation, analysis and teaching experiment. The evaluation of this teaching mode demonstrates that teachers, to some degree, can successfully help change the students'reading style from the passive way to the active way with independence and co-operation, and then the goal of improving English reading teaching at senior high school will be achieved.After the research and experiment, we come to realize that the English reading teaching at senior high school, with the help of multimedia, changes the traditional classroom teaching mode without enough real language environment, while multimedia provides a good environment of English learning. Multimedia provides words, pictures and cartoons for English reading teaching, as well as the information related to the texts, which turns the dull reading teaching into various vivid forms. At the same time, students can gain more information and more students involve in reading with more interests and imagination, so they can receive new knowledge at a quicker speed. This teaching method improves effectiveness in class, opens up new horizons for the students eyes and develop their creativity. Meanwhile, the level of teachers'teaching theory and practice is greatly improved, which promotes the development of English teaching. As an assisting approach, the English reading teaching based on CAI environment will play a more important role in English teaching in the future.
