This study aimed to explore the characteristics of 3-5 grade students in urban and rural who enjoy the art works on aesthetic preference ,and various factors were shown by they made aesthetic preference choices when they appreciate the art works . on the basis of children`s aesthetic preference at home and abroad, this study used document analysis, experimentation, questionnaire survey and so on to collect the raw data, and using analysis of variance and other statistical methods to study and analysis the psychological characteristics at art aesthetic preference and influencing factors of 3-5 grade students in rural and urban, and providing art aesthetic education for rural and urban primary school and empirical research theory. In this study, adopted experimental physical picture ratings made by self, questionnaires of Students interested in art study, parents support survey, and Personality Questionnaire EPQ (kids) to survey 296 subjects in urban and rural.According to this study, the following conclusions:(1) The psychological characteristics of 3-5 grade students art aesthetic preference: The overall number of subjects showing a common psychological tendency of aesthetic preferences, they preferred art style in order were cartoon-style, realism style, abstract style, combining abstract and figurative styles; they preferred art colors in order were dark tonal, warm tonal, cold tonal, light tonal; they preferred themes in order were landscape, architecture, animals, plants, characters, daily necessities, transportation; they preferred manifestations in order were meticulous painting, impressionistic style, oil painting, collage, sculpture.(2) When boys and girls enjoy the works of art, there were significant differences of their aesthetic preferences in general. Along with the growth of the age, children's art aesthetic preference has gradually increased, preference of urban and rural subjects were more consistent overall, but there were significant differences in art dimensions of color and subject matter.(3) The results show that for 3-5 grade pupils art aesthetic preference has influence factors including gender, age, the level of interest in art learning, materials familiarity, personality characteristics, parent support, The type of feature of art works, regional. In this factor, there are large urban-rural differences in the level of interest in art learning, materials familiarity, parent support and the extraversion. Urban-rural differences also one of the factors affect the 3-5 grade student art aesthetic preference.
