Student counselors are important participants in group education and management of college students.They are the group who get along with college students most closely in daily life and have an important impact on the development of physical and mental health of college students.The ability and quality of the counselor team is directly related to the realization of the goal of college education.At present,colleges and universities pay more and more attention to the management of the counselor team.How to select,evaluate,train and develop the counselor team has become a common concern of policy makers and researchers in Colleges and universities.Since the birth of competency model,it has gradually become a research hotspot in the field of human resource management,and has been widely used in practice.The introduction of competency model into the development and management of college counselors has important value for promoting the level of human resource management in Colleges and universities.This paper chooses P college counselors as the research object,constructs competency model by behavioral event interview,and discusses the application and guarantee of competency model.The main work and conclusion of this paper have three aspects.First of all,the paper analyzes the existing problems of counselor team management,and analyzes the necessity and feasibility of introducing competency model into counselor management.Secondly,the paper constructs the competency model of counselors,through interviewing 30 counselors’ representatives about behavior events,asking them about all kinds of representative events in their daily work,and mining the influencing factors of competency from their behaviors in dealing with all kinds of events;through preliminary sorting,38 competency elements are obtained,considering the need for operation,and through further study,the paper makes a brief analysis of the factors Through one-step questionnaire screening,20 competency factors are finally determined,which are summarized into four aspects: work ability,personal characteristics,work attitude and professional knowledge.Finally,the paper applies competency model to three fields of counselor recruitment,assessment and training development,which can change the past practice of relying on subjective experience,combine the needs of the post with the development of people,and promote the professionalization of counselor team.As the implementation of competency model in P college is still the first time,this study puts forward some safeguard measures to ensure the smooth implementation of competency model.
