Research On Employment Of Higher Vocational Colleges' Graduates In Anhui Province

Being a kind of relatively high levels of vocational education, higher vocational education has got great significance in promoting regional development and employment and also has received increased social approval,especially after more than 10 years of development. However, a large and increasing number of higher vocational colleges' graduates constantly poured into the society, strongly impacting the employment market. Subsequently higher vocational college graduates' employment problem has gradually arisen.'Obtaining employment is the foundation of the people's livelihood.'Being an important part of the whole society's unemployed people as well as the main force of the people with ordinary standards in finding a job, higher vocational college graduates' employment problem has always been the focus of social attention, as it has a bearing on the direction of higher vocational education's development, on the vital interests of tens of thousands of families, and on the social stability and harmonious development.In recent years, higher vocational education in Anhui province has been in vigorous development which has made important contributions to the popularization of higher education.It has also made irreplaceably outstanding contributions in realizing the central rise in Anhui as it brought up a large group of high-quality talented professionals for the society. However, some recessive crises, standing side by side with this development, gradually exposed themselves, in company with the high-speed development of the higher vocational education in Anhui.And some of the crises have become important bottlenecks in the healthy development of higher vocational education, including the confused ideas about talents'cultivation orientation, the decline in the quality of this education&teaching, the low level of students'comprehensive quality, and the increasingly difficult situations for higher vocational colleges'graduates, etc.Eventually the severe employment circumstances for higher vocational colleges'graduates and the employment situation that let people worry rose to the topic of general interest for students, parents, colleges, governments, and even the whole society.This paper starts with the concern about the existing employment problem of higher vocational colleges'graduates, selects graduates of vocational colleges in Anhui province as the research object, focuses on the use of questionnaires, comparative study, statistics, and literature study, deeply analyses the cause of the employment problem and proposes a solution to it.This paper mainly centers around a study with the following sections, the first chapter is the preface, which first introduces the purpose and significance of the study, then makes several relevant concepts defined as well as the detailed comments of the research situation both in China and overseas, at last outlines the content and methods of this study.The second part is the chapter of raising questions, which begins mainly from the employment survey of vocational colleges'graduates in Anhui, and then makes a summary to point out the underlying reasons that lead to the employment problem of those graduates, according to the questionnaire results. Specifically the reasons can be divided into the following six aspects,firstly, graduates think that governments haven't made sufficient efforts to support the employment of college students, as they generally do not understand the employment policies;secondly, there are still many problems and shortcomings in the employment guidance for graduates so that students generally are not satisfied with the work of their schools; thirdly, a number of vocational colleges haven't set the professional accurately based on market demand or position requirements, and this led to the maladjustment to the job requirements for the talents they've brought up, the low employment rate, and not so high occupational quality; fourthly, graduates generally are not well prepared for their employment and are neither qualified in professional knowledge nor skills; fifthly, most graduates think of the employment in big cities, big institutions, and big enterprises while the very few are willing to work in the grass-roots units, lacking the spirit to endure hardships and struggles; sixthly, there are still some problems in the employment approach and orientation of those graduates.The third chapter is a major focus of this paper which is the section of problem analysis. For the analysis of the causes I cut in through the external employment environment graduates are now in as well as the internal resources they own, and point out the advantages, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that graduates of vocational colleges in Anhui are now facing,with the use of SWOT analysis. The concept of employment, the employment attitudes and expectations of salaries mainly make up the comparative advantages; psychological preparation of employment, reservations in professional capacity constitute the first-mover advantages; good application of technical skills, professional characteristics and order training counterparts bring out the competitive advantages. Disadvantages mainly lie in the comparative weakness of the specialist diplomas graduates hold, generally poor humane qualities, and the unstability in the personalities&psychologies. Opportunities mainly lie in the rapid economic development in Anhui province and the emergence of small and medium enterprises, in the big demand for high-skilled talents in the job market of Anhui, in more and more attention the national government has devoted to vocational education and employment, and the change of idea in employing also brings job opportunities to vocational colleges' graduates. Threats are the following things, the still severe employment situation in the whole society, the gradual imbalance in the market positions of both sides, many employers' pursuit of higher degrees as always, social and psychological bias against vocational colleges' graduates, the risks of structural unemployment produced from major homogenization.The fourth chapter is the part of solutions as well as another major focus of this paper which mainly puts forward, from three levels,the countermeasures or suggestions to the current employment problem of vocational colleges' graduates in Anhui. Firstly, the government and the community should increase financial input and intensify propaganda, create a favorable environment for vocational graduates employment; strengthen the regulation and control of vocational colleges, implement the graduates' employment policies, establish the mechanism of communication and interaction between educational administration and human resources&social security department, and actively build a diversified source of employment. Secondly, higher vocational colleges should identify the personnel training position, highlight the school characteristics, actively promote the cooperation between colleges and enterprises, promote the combination of production and research, give prominence to a whole, full, professional, information-oriented course of career guidance, and work hard in graduates'employment services. Thirdly, graduates themselves should make a good plan for their own career, enhance their employability, evaluate themselves correctly,have a good grasp of employment expectations, pay attention to the cultivation of practical experience, enhance the ability to adapt to society, consciously enhance the quality of professional ethics, and strengthen the consciousness of integrity.This last chapter is the section of conclusion and discussion, the focus of which is to extract conclusions of this study, point out innovations, distinguishing features as well as the deficiencies.The study of the employment problem of Anhui vocational colleges'graduates is a major issue, which involves a relatively wide study area, objectively "speaking, it is unrealistic to give solutions to all the related problems in this paper, but I have strived to start from the real data based on research, inquire into this issue from the original source, find clues and clarify the ideas with reality for the future direction of major researches as well as more successful studies.Key words:vocational college graduates; employment; SWOT analysis; countermeasures...
