Composition is the general performance of a personal life experience and language ability, which is also an importance measurement of students'language ability.In order to acquire the information of vocational high school students'writing, the author conducted a survey into some students and their parents of several secondary vocational high schools in Zhongshan, and interviewed some school teachers of Nanlang Technological school and the relevant employers.According to the survey and the interviews conducted by the author, although vocational high school composition teaching takes up too school hours, it does not really play its role. Teaching process is dull and depressed, which forms a time-consuming and inefficient situation. In this embarrassing situation, students are afraid of writing compositions, which teachers are afraid of teaching, and parents do not attach importance to. Most of the students'compositions show "false, big and empty ". The contents are fabricated, applied mechanically, or plagiarized. The writing situation of vocational high school students is really terrible. It is difficult for these students to adapt to social development.I drew a conclusion that there are many reasons for it by analyzing the present situation. On one hand,students focus more on their majors but less on composition, and ignore the important role of writing. In their spare time, they don't often read, which lead to little accumulation of life material. They are lack of the guidance of writing knowledge. On the other hand, the guidance of teachers is disorder and random. The teaching method is single and boring. Teaching space is narrow, and devaluation system composition is profit-oriented. In the analysis of existing problems, the author proposed the principles and aims which vocational high school composition teaching should follow.Therefore, based on the analysis of the survey,and teaching experience, the author put forward some strategies to improve vocational high school composition teaching, such as stimulating interest, building up self-confidence, getting into the life, enriching the writing material, as well as writing more, practicing more, emphasing on practical use,making comments in different ways and finding good points, so as to improve the writing ability of vocational high school students effectively.
