English reading ability is one of the main skills of high school students. Many high school students'English reading ability still can not be effectively improved after three years'learning, so this issue arouses the general concern of a lot of linguists and high school teachers. Based on the theoretical framework of interactive reading model, the thesis makes an experimental study of interactive reading model and traditional reading teaching model, compares and analyzes the effects of two reading models to prove whether interactive reading model can improve students'reading ability more effectively. The thesis is divided into six chapters:Chapter One is introduction which mainly states the background, causes, methods and purpose of the study. Chapter Two mainly analyzes the characteristics and process of reading and discusses related researches domestic and abroad. Chapter Three puts forward interactive reading model. In this part, the present author analyzes the characteristics and advantages of interactive reading model, combines its characteristics and advantages with schema theory, and then draws the theoretical conclusion that interactive reading model can enhance high school students'reading ability more effectively. Chapter Four belongs to the application of interactive reading model. This part focuses on the guidance of interactive reading model on the English reading teaching of high school.Chapter Five is the experimental design, at the same time it is the core of the thesis. The part describes and analyzes the experiment from the experimental design including experimental purpose, methods and materials, experimental process and experimental results. The thesis gets the data from the results of many examinations and questionnaire between experimental class and control class. The experiment proves that compared with traditional reading model, not only can interactive reading model improve students'reading ability, but also it can arouse their reading interest. And it is in favor of cultivating students'habit of self-learning. From the experiment, some enlightenments are obtained as follows.Firstly, applied to intensive reading in high school, interactive reading model can improve students'basic language knowledge, and at the same time it can extend students'background knowledge. Secondly, the extra-curricular reading materials selected under the guidance of interactive reading model are authentic and interesting. On the one hand, these reading materials can consolidate and expand students'basic knowledge and related cultural background knowledge; on the other hand, these reading materials can stimulate students'reading enthusiasm, nurture students'self-study capacity, and promote their English reading ability in high school ultimately.Chapter six draws the conclusion. The present author puts forward some main discoveries, deficiency of this research and some advice for more researches.
