Abstract Information technology education (ITE for short) in primary and secondary schools (PPS for short) has now become the focus of the public. How to prepare favorable ITE for contemporary children and adolescences and how to equip them with desirable information literacy (IL for short), so that they will not lag behind as a 揵eggaf in future s information street, have become the focus of those researchers interested in education technology. This very thesis has made a comprehensive analysis of and study on ITE in P55 by means of literature concordance, investigation & interview, web following, and observation involvement. Part One has elaborated the background, present condition, purpose, significance, and method of the present study. Part Two has defined concepts relevant to ITE in PSS, creatively described, by means of a three-dimensional grade separation figure, people s IL in information era, pointed out the ideal target area in ITh in P55. It has therefore analyzed the unprecedented potentiality in 11, namely, 揳iriosit~? 揳nti-surpas~? and 揳ffinity? It has traced the originality of ITE in Chinese P55 and classified the development of ITE in P55 into 3 phases according to the occurrence of significant historical events, the transfer of the emphasis in teaching and leaning (T & L for short) content as well as changes of organization forms in teaching and learning, and later it has elaborated the significant meanings of ITE in P55. Part Three has analyzed and exposed some problems in ITE of Chinese PSS from the purpose, environment, model, teaching material, teaching faculty, and assessment in IT curriculum teaching and learning. Influenced by computational teaching and learning, IT teaching and learning, in their real sense, have been put wrong in position though they are just at their initial stage. The backwardness, division, and isolation in environmental construction has limited the popularization of ITE in P55, and simultaneously brought about intense negative effects. The ongoing T & L model has created barriers in curricula, simultaneously, those problems in teaching materials have become a barrier in the execution of information technology. The stability and training in teaching faculty, esp. the training of new staffs have deeply affected the development in lIE of PSS. The random in T & L assessment as well as the influence of such a thought as examinational education has misled an objective, and fair investigation of student?s information literacy. Part Four has discussed that how to make a right selection of LIE in PSS is the emphasis as well as the starting point and final goal of the present thesis. It has pointed out that it will be the right choice for developing countries to think comprehensively every respective factor of the system based on the frontier of the U ~44 present stage, to hold focus on both curriculum teaching and learning and integration, to keep in pace with the worldwide information tides. Firstly, the relationships have been analyzed between LTh and computational education; ITE and IT curriculum teaching and learning; ITE and curricula.
