In the tide of educational reform towards 21st. century, we advocate the idea of pursuing students' mental freedom in the process of learning.The basic character of the idea is its transcendence, which includes three aspects: imagination transcends thought, freedom transcends one' s own willingness, the appreciation of beauty transcends utility.This idea is significant for three reasons. Firstly, it meets the demands of the age of information, globalization and pluralism. Secondly, it belongs to mankind' s eternal goal of pursuing spiritual liberty. Thirdly, it helps to carry out the current educational reform.The dissertation proposes a teaching system to promote students' mental freedom. The teaching ideas should follow the way of existentialism instead of occupation. The teaching contents return to life world, which offers realistic and constructive materials. The teaching process is stick together with games. The teaching environment should be relaxing and free, which mainly concludes the physical environment and the relationship between teachers and students.
