In the middle of 1930's,the high-normal education of China was deeply depressed. Since the anti-Japanese war was broken, it had been in life-and-death juncture in danger of the crazy destroying of the Japanese imperialist. At the same time, the most middle school teachers who had been bring up by non-normal college increasingly presented the disadvantages lack of educational theories and didactical skill training. The two factors spurred the Ministry of Education made the determination to rebuild the high-normal education and set up the National Normal Colleges. From the end of 1938 to 1944, there had been set up 11 National Normal College. It not only retrieved and developed our high-normal education, but also promoted the Chinese Middle West areas' schooling and social education that time. The purpose of this thesis is to discuss their origin, establish course, running situation, gain and loss, summarize the experiences of the high-normal education that time, provide reference to our current reform.This thesis includes four parts except preface and conclusion.Part One integrates the historical backgrounds of that time to show how the National Normal Colleges originated by external and interior causes.Part Two begins from the customization of the National Normal Colleges and narrates the establish course of each collage, present the general scene of these colleges that time.Part Three special discusses these colleges' running situation including their structure, curriculum, teachers and equipments, students manage. By these we can see their unique character and spirit.Part Four tries to analysis these colleges' historical significance what include these aspects: firstly they continued and developed the high-normal education of China; secondly the they accelerated the whole schooling education of the rear areas in wartime; thirdly they hold out these areas' social education, civilization and anti-Japanese war. At last, the thesis shows its own opinion on some divarication and limitation about these colleges.
