A Study Of The Present Situation Of The High School Students'spoken Language In PingLiang And Its Strategies

With the implementation of quality-based education, it is becoming more and more important whether people can successfully communicate orally. It has come to be realized that developing the students' ability of oral expression is an urgent need , What' s more , such an ability has already been put forward clearly in the newly published curriculum standard for fulltime senior school Chinese. However, people in PingLiang , a region in Northwest of China ,which is backward in economy and information haven't realized the importance of oral expression . Training the students' oral expression is passive and primitive for various reasons . Therefore , I have made a research into the ability of oral expression of the students from four different leveled schools of PingLiang , using questionnaire , testing observation , talking and particular analysis , then analyse the relevant reasons , put forward proper strategies and made some experiments .The research shows that the ability of oral expression of the students in PingLiang is low on the whole . Main problems :Poor pronunciations , small vocabulary, misunderstandings , preference to use dirty words . In addition , they are also passive in oral communication and not good at communicating by body language . Findings :Main reasons for the students' poor oral expression are as follows : Improper guidance of the National Matriculation Examinations , factors of education and non-intelligence and language environment.In order to solve the above problems , I have some suggestions as follows : stimulating their interest and teach some methods and skills . That is to say , it can use various flexible teaching methods to practice it out of class , make good use of modern teaching technologies in accordance with reading demands , change the social notions which are bad for developing oral expression and build the atmosphere to show the advantages of local culture, oral expression test should become a part of entrance examination into high schools or universities .
