Profound changes are occurring in world economy Such as the changing nature and organization of work; the change of industrial structure and occupational structure. As a result, realizing a nation's potential to be a competitive, productive economy requires an ever growing proportion of highly skilled, well qualified people. Not only China, but countries all over the world are concerned about how to train high skilled workers. As a developed country, the UK is also facing the same problem, that is skill shortage. To deal with the issue, the government has developed policies to meet the skill need at all levels, particularly at higher level, Such as strengthening and extending Advanced Modern Apprenticeship; introducing Foundation Degree in higher Education; form a National Skill Alliance; carrying out CPD project; supporting e-learning across further education; developing the Centre of Vocational Excellence. China will gain a good deal of enlightenment from their experience.
