Literary and Artistic Theories and Middle School Teaching of Chinese are very close subjects with many overlaps. Literary and Artistic Theories has important meaning for Middle School Teaching of Chinese, because Literary and Artistic Theories has the nature as tool and guidance. First, this paper analysis why Middle School Teaching of Chinese should be guide by Literary and Artistic Theories is decided by the characteristic and purpose of Middle School Chinese, high consumption low effect, and Middle School Chinese teachers' low quality of Literary and Artistic Theories. Then the paper looks back the developing process and relationship between Literary and Artistic Theories and Middle School Teaching of Chinese from 1949. At last, the paper points out Literary and Artistic Theories should guide Middle School Teaching of Chinese from History of Literature, Criticism of Literature and Theory of Literature.
