This thesis analyzes the background of Germany's "dual system" vocational education, depicts its process of development and reviews its main characters. Considering the history and current situation of vocational education reform and development in China, some policy suggestions are proposed so as to introduce Germany's experiences and quicken China's vocational education reform and development.Germany's " dual system " vocational education originates its specific social and historical background. The success of this vocational education model lies in the value trends of the German, its close combination with economy, the emphasis of industries' roles in vocational education, the emphasis of practical skill training, and the market-and-social needs oriented operational system. While in China, vocational education has not attained its due position due to the influence of the traditional morality and feudal culture. Vocational education has experienced turns and twists and hardships in the process of establishing the socialist educational system. In the new situation in which the well-off society is being developed and the human resources are being fully tapped, the suitable education streaming ratio should be identified, the training models and specifications for vocational education should be vary and vocational schools should have their specific characters under due guidance.
