New theory, new concept and new method which adapt to the standard of teaching are being studied at present. In this paper, the author deeply discussed and studied the case method of teaching and introduced it into the biological course of a high school by a mutable analysis and comparison, aiming at surmounting the limitation of the actual method of teaching.The case teaching has its history of sprouting, coming into being and development. This kind of teaching is the method that let students to comprehend, and to master theories and knowledge, as well as to improve the understanding ability and compositive diatheses of students in a high school by choosing typical cases and organizing a group discussion or supply a certain scenario, according to a purpose of teaching. The case method of teaching is different from the traditional method of teaching. The character of the case method of teaching are as following: to take a case as a clue, to take a communication between teachers and students as a basis, to take training and improving an ability and all-sided development of students as a goal, to conformity and optimizeteaching forms and medias, and to have more answers and a competitive evaluation.The case method of teaching was founded on a deep base of theory, which were constructivism theory, floating theory, teaching communication theory, discovering learning theory, gestalt theory, and information processing theory.Any method of teaching is only scientifically applied; its advantage is exerted maximal. The regulations that should be followed in applying the case method of teaching of biological courses in a high school are: (1) encourage, (2) adaptation, (3) proper sequence and graduation, (4) elicitation, (5) agility, and (6) opening. Four teaches to manage well for carrying out the case method of teaching is paid more attention as follows: choosing a better case, presenting case, discussion and analysis, and summarization and evaluation. Meanwhile, the positioning and switch of teacher's role is considered as well.In this paper, the teaching effect was also examined and analyzed by comparing both an experimental class with and a controlling class without the case method of teaching. The findingsshowed that the case method of teaching can gain a better achievement, and improve the creativity, understanding and practice. In addition, the examination and investigation indicated that a great number of students enjoyed the case method of teaching.The application of the case method of teaching in biological course will graduate develop into mature and the effect of this kind of teaching is increasingly significant, along with a constant reform of biological teaching, even though the study of the case method of teaching is still in starting stage currently.
