As being a kind of complicated structure system, there exist many questions in higher education assessment (HEA). In the situation of "one body directs, three bodies assist", that is, one government directs, universities' self-assessment, social assessment and governmental assessment assist. For the convenience of analyses, the article starts from the point of mechanism of higher education assessment and makes adaptability conception as the logical stand-point. It mainly probes how to deal with four adaptabilities, that is, adapting the enviornment of market economy; adapting the requirement or needs of assessment's development; adapting the needs of social mass and adapting the development of higher education. All these aim at establishing a new kind of HEA mechanism which has adaptability and partly reply what's the good assessment. In the structure, the article firstly proposes thequestions and simply analyses the environment of study——discuss the relations betweenmarket economy and higher education and between economy and higher education assessment; then it anatomizes the conceptions of adaptability from three aspects of origin, market and scientifical development ideas; furthermore, it analyses the circumstance and problems of our existing HEA and the reasons of their non-adaptability existence. After these, it focus on building the measurement standards of adaptability of HEA and mainly probes the strategies of carrying out adaptability of HEA mechanism. The end of the article gives the conclusion and the prospect.
