This thesis paper highly values education about life in Chinese teaching. It mainly discusses the idea of education about life in Chinese teaching in the following three aspects.This thesis, in the first part, tells about why education about life is necessary, in terms of social requirements. Education about life is inevitable demand of the times. On one side, it is becoming worrying that a lot of people do not cherish life and even some of them commit suicide. Lack of cherishment of life among a large group, might influence other social members. Ignorance of value of life leads to danger of collapse of our spiritual home. All of these are questioning our present teaching, which lacks education about life. On the other side, education about life is also demand of China's social change. As the development of China, value of individuals is being paid more attention. Education should give more cares to individual life. Harmonious Society, which is promoted by the government, also requires education about life, in the view point of Humas&Nature, Humans&Society and Humans and Spirit.Then, in the second part, the thesis discusses necessity of education about life and how it can be carried out. The essence of education is life and education should put emphasis on life. So education about life is how essence of education can be showed. The paper concludes that education which lacks education about life is wrong education. Education about life highly values individuals themselves.At last, in the third part, this thesis discusses application of education about life into Chinese teaching. Chinese teaching, among all subjects in middle schools, according to this paper, is the one which can do most about education about life. Chinese teaching can at least influence our life in the following aspects. First of all, it helps us learn to live and enjoy our life. Second, it inspires us to make our life poetic andbeautiful. Third, it helps us improve our life and be able to look beyond life. Traditional Chinese teaching, by contrast, abandons education about life, which is equivalent to abandoning Chinese itself. Since late 1980s, discussion about Chinese teaching over the country gives Chinese teaching a chance to change. Changes of teaching goals and teaching methods, especially rewriting textbooks injects new life into Chinese teaching. Based on the situation, this paper discusses how to apply education about life into Chinese teaching.
