| This paper focuses on look back and look the future in the construction and development of Modem Instructive Technology Experimental Schools(MITES) in Hunan after the elementary and middle schools have already passed the declarations for MITES. In order to realize modernization of basic education in Hunan as soon as possible and according to the higher authorities' files, Hunan Education Department explores ways and approaches to realize education informationization based in experimental elementary and middle schools.There are over 26,000 elementary and middle schools in Hunan. Since 1997, 411 schools have been approved as MITES in Hunan through multilevel reports and examinations. These schools have done much creative work during 8 years' experiment and research in that teachers' concepts and ideas have been changed through training, their capability to put modern teaching approaches into practice has been greatly improved and that effective combination of education and information technology has been explored. Although MITES in Hunan have made much achievement in the past 8 years, many urgent problems await to be solved in such respects as hardware, software, teacher training, fund and teaching research. How to solve these problems is deep concern for educational administrative departments of different levels.With fast development in information technology(IT ),although experimental schools face lots of difficulties now and difficulties may appear later ,they have no choice but to overcome them . The experimental schools should adapt themselves to the current tides ,and they can keep developing through activies such as the reinforcement of scientific research activities and application ,the construction ofresources ,the reinforcement of long-distance network education ,the training of teachers and management ,etc. Through these improvements experimental schools will do a valuable and explorative job to realize modernization of education in Hunan.
