Objective: To explore the formulation of index systems that can be used to evaluate the medical postgraduates. Methods: 1) We select thirty experts in Xinjiang Medical university.The index system and index's weights were determined by DELPHI method and precedence chart method after two turns consulation.2 ) Collect and input the performances of clinical postgraduates' who got the entrance to Xinjiang Medical university in 2002.3 ) We investigated the clinical postgraduates of getting the entrance to Xinjiang Medical university in 2002 who took part in the clinical skill examination in 2005 and advisors. Results: 1) Definite the index systems, of which can be divided into three levels. There are there primary indictors including internal medicine system, surgery system and clinical aiding system, thirty secondary indexes including ten indexes of internal medicine system,ten indexes of surgery system and ten indexes of clinical aiding system and ninety-five tertiary indexes including thirty indexes of internal medicine system, thirty-four indexes of surgery system and thirty-one indexes of clinical aiding system.2) Evaluate the the clinical postgraduates' of getting the entrance to Xinjiang Medical university in 2002 by applying index system in order to reflect the practical level of clinical postgraduates at clinical skill. Conclusions: The index system is convenient and feasible. The performance of applying it can reflect the practical level of clinicalpostgraduates at clinical skill and it is accredited by clinical postgraduates. At the same time we acquire the insufficiency of the index systems, which should be improved and consummated furtherly in the future.
