With the development of technology, the quality of human resource is more and more important for both a country and company. From some aspect, we can say that the development of future economy must be base on human resource. So, how to develop and manage human resource seems more and more important for a organization. Career planning of employee, a major content in human resource development and management, is not only the new trend of today's personnel management, but also the new research field of human resource development in our country. Because for one side, it is necessary for prospering a company that how to strengthen career development and grow. For other side, it is also necessary for every employee how to find a suit place according to their personality, interest, work value, ability, and etc. It seems significant meaning for both organization and employee that we make research on how to plan career. In our research, we explore the relation of personality and career anchor, and the effect on career route preference.A questionnaires id developed on the base of previous research and our interview to measure career anchor, career route preference and personality. 420 employees form different occupations in Zhejiang Province, Hanghai and other places in the field investigation. SPSS is used to make factor analysis, regression analysis, ANOVA, and we reaches the following results:1.There are six career anchors in the knowledge employee of our occupation: managerial competence/ technical competence/ creativity/ pure challenge/ independence/ security. And people pay the highest attention on security. 2.There are for career routes in the knowledge employee of our occupation: managerial career route/ vertical technical career route/ horizontal technical career route/ project to project career route.3.Career anchor and career routes preference varied significantly between work groups. 4.The personality and career anchor have effect on career route preference.The results indicate that we can make career plan based on people's personality and career anchor. The study has feasible implication in motivation and human resource planning.
