In many educational forms, the outdoor education is so important which started from 20th century, has developed for a long time and become a significant form. In recent years, many developed country just like Britain, American, and Australia etc, in outdoor education, have got some certain successes and this article makes focus on outdoor education in American, especially on elemental education, to analysis these practical forms and its phenomena by some parts like the following:First, this article shows analyses the background information and the significance for study on America elementary outdoor education, and then, explains the research methods and thoughts in this article.Second, this article shows some definition on outdoor education and makes conclusion on it, then introduces the background information on the development of American outdoor education, which includes the cultural and history background, and then give the outdoor education's theory basis from pedagogy, psychology, philosophy, etc. And then, discusses the practical forms on outdoor education about elementary school: some conditions, like the teaching times, environment, and teachers in this education form and etc. this part is also the important part in this article.The more important part of this article is here: concludes the details in outdoor education practice and educational assessment of this form, in the former parts, the author show some differences among several outdoor forms, for example, the teaching methods, the teaching content, the teaching aim, education forms and etc. and pay more attention to the residential outdoor education, and make a conclusion on outdoor education significance.And the later, the outdoor education assessment includes its process: its aim, for feeling, knowledge, skills .Methods, like interview, inspect, assignment, talking, the chart for social relationship, etc. curricular designation, and show some examples, etc. In the last of this part, there is an analysis on the assessment.After the part of assessment on elementary outdoor education, a discussion is shown here on the outdoor education's present problems and its development in future in American, making a conclusion on the American elementary outdoor education, this article analysis the present situation about outdoor education in china, points out some shortcoming in its development, and last, show some useful suggestions on the outdoor education reform in china: Set up the relative educational system. Make better communication among teachers, students and parents. Make sure the safety on people who take part in outdoor education. Prepare for financial support. Do better on teacher training. Make good teaching plan. Encourage the research on outdoor education. Cooperate with other forms which are beneficial for outdoor education. Last, make reasonable assessment on outdoor education.
