Research learning is a new learning mode that collectively embodies themodern teaching principles. Aiming at cultivating students' innovativespirits and practical capabilities, research learning is characterizedby its openness, independence, comprehensiveness and practicality. At thecurrent moment when great importance is attached to independent probinglearning, it will surely become an important principle and strategy incourse and teaching operations, and have significant teaching anddevelopment values. Based on bibliographical materials, expertconsultation, questionnaires, teaching experiment and statistics, thepaper thoroughly analyzes the research learning strategy in the area oftheoretic gist, teaching objective, teaching significance, teachingprocedure, teaching environment and teaching assessment, illustrating intheory the feasibility and importance of the application of researchlearning strategies in the option of basketball in universities. Theresult of the experiment confirms that, compared with traditionalteaching methods, the research learning strategy is more favorable forstudents to improve their knowledge and skills, the ability to investigate,analyze and solve problems, and it can help cultivate their creativethinking, thus fully realizing the purpose of putting students as the mainbody and teachers as the leaders. The research learning strategy,therefore, not only is suitable for the teaching of the option ofbasketball in universities, but also provides valuable references for theteaching reformation of other athletic programs.
