It is not suitable to quality education to adopt standardization and synchronization methods in evaluating our students. So, it is imperative to reform our outdated and irrational evaluation methods for quality education.With the implementation of quality education, the second round curriculum innovation project has been carried out in Shanghai since 1998, which is called "Cross-centennial Talent Cultivating Project", including the requirement of changing the way of evaluation according to the curriculum innovation. In accordance with the spirit of "Positively Pushing the Reformation of Students Evaluation and Examination System" of National Ministry of Education, as well as the requirement of the second round curriculum innovation on evaluation, the Elementary and Secondary Education Department of Shanghai Education Committee sponsors the Shanghai Middle School Students Growing up Track Record (Track Record for short), which has been put into use since September, 2004, and had been revised thorough in 2005. It is necessary to constantly revise and improve the Track Record for that the track record has only been used for more than one year in the middle and primary schools of the whole city and there are properly some questions and deficiencies.Based on the review of evaluation system for students and the discussion on the evaluation theory of Track Record, using the qualitative and quantitative approaches, such as questionnaire, interview, etc., this dissertation investigates and discusses the implementing status quo and the existing problems (most are from the opinions of teachers), and presents suggestions after reflection for improving Track Record.This research takes some junior high schools of Huangpu district as cases of the case study. Through the questionnaire investigation for the teachers from four schools and the intensive interviews for head-teachers and teachers from two schools in this district, the paper comes to the following conclusions: most of the teachers accept the form of Track Record for it could record students' comprehensive qualities and reflect the differences between students to some degree; the design of the content of Track Record is basically rational; the implementation of Track Record offers teachers a chance to improve their teaching activity.
