The Study Of College Academic Management In China

Nowadays, the study and discussion of academic management, which is an important component of the internal management of college, is not enough in academic circles. There should be a further study about it. This paper has gradually clarified the concept and connotation of college academic management from management to the management of higher education, from the management of higher education to college academic education. Based on the age of knowledge, considering the concepts of academy and college academy and the relationship of them, an analysis of the relationships had been given of academic management and administrative management, of academic democracy management and academic administrative management,. Meanwhile, this paper has further demonstrated the intention of college academic management from the aspects of function, contents and property of college. Features and principles of college academic management have been presented. Reforms of academic management in Peking and TsingHua University have also been introduced in conjunction with the case method, which further illustrated the history of academic management in China and the inspiration of it. By analyzing the real case of college academic management in China, the writer has pointed out the problem of college academic management, and has draw a conclusion that the defect of it in China is attributed to the centralized and decentralized academic management system. Learning the experiences from western developed nations, this paper has stated the significance of enhancing the internal and external democracy construction of academic management. The model of academic management in developed country has been introduced as a reference. The specific suggestion and measure has been given to innovate academic management.
