Nowadays teachers' proficiency has become a major tendency of international teaching occupational development. The newly performed curriculum reform for basic education has put forward a new requirement to teachers' professional development and teachers' proficiency will be the decisive factor to the curriculum reform. We should explore the measures to improve teachers' proficiency to meet the need of teachers' professional development, so that teachers can adapt the new curriculum requirement.Based on the new curriculum requirements to the political teachers' professional development, this dissertation has investigated the current situation of political teachers in senior middle school and compared the situation with the new curriculum requirement; finally the thesis tries to seek measures to facilitate the political teachers' professional development.The dissertation composes five parts.Firstly, it briefly states the great theoretical and practical value of this research and describes the current situation of the research at home and abroad; then raises the research thoughts and methods.Secondly, it gives the theoretical foundation of teachers' professional development. On the basis of the existing results, the notion of teachers' professional development and the structure of teachers' proficiency are defined.Thirdly, it states the requirements of the new curriculum standard to political teachers in senior middle school which is based on the characteristics of the new curriculum standard.Fourthly, it is about the current situation of political teachers' professional development. In order to know their professional affection, education ideas, framework of knowledge and ability, political teachers from senior middle school in Songzi County were investigated by the means of questionnaire and interview.Finally, it expatiates on the approaches of teachers' development. The standard of political teachers' professional development should be made, which can be worked as guideline. Political teachers should attend training and exchange their teaching experience with colleagues and make research while teaching at school so as to promote political teachers' professional development.
