From the experiential management to the scientific management, and arriving atthe cultural management, is the trend of development of modern management theory,and is also the general trend of the management of colleges and universities in the world."Universities in the modern times must have modern management, first-classuniversities must have top-grade management". And teachers in the colleges anduniversities are the main subject in holding universities well. They are important powerto promote the development of higher education. "It's called University because thereare many masters, not large buildings." So, management of teachers is the mostimportant managing work in the colleges and universities. It's a kind of innovation anddevelopment to the current management theory of teachers in the colleges anduniversities, and is also a large trend to the innovation of higher-education managementin countries all over the world, that introduces the cultural management intomanagement of teachers in the colleges and universities, put emphasis on theconstruction of university culture, conducts teachers to self-development,self-management.In the paper, we are trying to draw lessons from the experience in the theory andpractice of cultural management in enterprises. Using our country's basic condition andthe present situation in development of colleges and universities as a point of departure,we are attempt to graft cultural management in management of teachers in colleges anduniversities, preliminary discussed the mode of cultural management of teachers incolleges and universities operational mechanism and implement measures. This paper isstructured into five chapters, including the source of the topic, the summary of researchrelated to this topic between domestic and abroad, meaning, problems to be solved and research approach; the development trend and review of management theories ofteachers in colleges and universities; multidisciplinary analysis and operationalmechanism ideas of cultural management theory of teachers in colleges and universities;strategies and measures of cultural management of teachers in colleges and universities;case analysis—the questionnaire survey of teachers in two universities in Guangxi, etc.five parts. In this paper, starting from the characteristics of organizations of collegesand universities in our country and psychological and behavioral characteristics ofteachers, we try to introduce the cultural management into existing management systemof teachers in the colleges and universities, and continue to complete the construction ofmanagerial system of colleges and universities at one time. In this managerial system,administrators emphasize setting up a "people-oriented" concept, point up the subjectstanding of teachers, respect for the full development of teachers, and construct arelaxed academic atmosphere. Colleges administrators use a non-mandatorymanagement style, make teachers identify with the shared values, beliefs and goals ofcolleges, and change into the personal initiative of teachers, conduct teachers toself-education, self-management and self-development, improve the cohesion and senseof belonging in the organization of colleges and universities, and thereby achieve thecoordinated development of individuals and organization of colleges and universities.
