The Inquiry Learning gained wide recognition and appreciation of educational experts and professors after its appearance in China. Experiments have shown that inquiry learning is an important pattern of practicing curriculum standard and unimportant way of proceeding quality-oriented education. Due to its short-term appearance in China, the Inquiry Learning is still in the exploring phase. It has a long way to go to implement it both around the whole country and in different learning phases in an all-round way.This paper is based on the current situation of secondary mathematics inquiry learning and devoted to improving the teaching practice level of the secondary mathematics Inquiry Learning.Firstly, the practice situation of the secondary mathematics inquiry learning has been studied through methods of documents statistics and analysis and field survey. The study results indicated that practice on secondary mathematics Inquiry Learning is still fairly backward, although inquiry learning has aroused great attention of educational circles and the mathematics inquiry learning is fairly outstanding which its focus is only on the senior secondary school and primary school phases.Secondly, this study analyzed factors influencing secondary mathematics inquiry learning. And the study results indicated that knowledge and ability of secondary students are not the main factors influencing the inquiry learning. The main reason that prevents teachers from experimenting the new teaching methods is that the evaluation system is fairly backward and teachers are lack of understanding about proceeding the Inquiry Learning.Thirdly, aiming at the current obstacles in proceeding Inquiry Learning at the secondary middle school level, the categories and patterns of the Inquiry Learning were elaborated. At the same time, some advice on topic selection, activity forms, classroom atmosphere and evaluation in the secondary mathematics Inquiry Learning were given in this paper. This paper is expected to provide some references for the teachers and do some good to their teaching practice.
