In the modern organization, with the continually enlargement of the size of the organization and the complexity of the organizational environments, the function of the organizational structure is becoming more and more noticeable and important. As one of the modern organization, university now is playing the more important role in the social development and constantly adjusts itself to those complex environments as well.In recent years, along with the all-around reform of our country's higher educational system, the size of university is constantly becoming enlarged, the structure of subject is becoming completed and the organizational structure is becoming complicated, all of which have given the new challenges to the traditional inner managerial system of the university. The content of this thesis is to research the Australian university and college's inner organizational structure on the bases of this kind of theory. The structural control pattern of Australian universities is the typical president's responsibility system under the leadership of the board. The longitudinal organization falls into three levels: school, college and department; the latitudinal organization falls into binary power structures: academic power and administrative power. With the guideline of market competition and country's intervention, the Australian university system is commendably adopted to the development of society and economy and also brings up many advanced human resources. We can see the Australian university system has the features of flexibility and multiplicity. This thesis falls into four parts: first, the historical evolution; second, the present actuality; third, the forming causes; last, the developing trend. The last part of this thesis studies the features and the problems of the organizational structure of our country's universities. The basic structural control pattern of our universities is the president's responsibility system under the leadership of Chinese Communist Party, also including the three levels of school, college and department. As drawn lessons from the mode of former Soviet Union, it has some abuses. For example, the managerial system is inefficient in some way; the academic power is always replaced by the administrative power etc. Aimed at facing up to the problems existing in our university's inner organizational structure, this thesis only provides my own opinions about the transform and development of the university's inner managerial system of our country.
