To develop the curriculum resources actively and utilize it reasonably is an important component of the English curriculum practice. In the new round of curriculum reform, the role of reading is becoming more and more important in English teaching. So how to develop and utilize English reading curriculum resources is a fairly new subject which all the English teachers in the front line must confront. However, the exploration and research about the development and utilization of the curriculum resources is still at the preliminary stage, few mature achievements have been made, particularly about the English reading curriculum resources. This paper tries to make a profound study on this domain from the perspective of practice.After a brief summary of the concepts about reading teaching and curriculum resources and a brief retrospection about the existent study achievements, I made a questionnaire survey to teachers and students in three schools of our city. Some problems existed, such as the singular resource of the reading materials, the teachers' weak sense of curriculum resources, the inefficient use of the existent resources, the unbalanced development between different districts and so on. Meanwhile, the analyzes of the 2006 English test paper of the senior school entrance exam in our city also showed that the students is lack of good reading habits and techniques as well as the relevant background knowledge caused by the limited reading coverage. In fact, as the coming of the information age, the students have a comprehensive reading resources, what must the educators do is how to develop and utilize the resources.This thesis made a profound research and discussion about this question, mainly from the aspects of internet, newspaper, English songs, English in daily life, handwriting English newspaper, and English milk for babes. Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each resource, discussed how to make our students contact with English in different ways. In the end, this thesis points out the shortage of the study, and some problems which calls for further discussion.
