Nowadays,curriculum resources are playing a more and more important role in English teaching and learning practices.English Curriculum Standards of Compulsory Education(2011),the official guidance document to the English teaching and learning,makes the discipline “enrich curriculum resources,and use diverse channels to learn” as one of the six basic concepts of English Curriculum Standards.To keep on track with the core concept of Compulsory English Curriculum Standards,a number of schools have positively carried out programs to better develop and use English curriculum resources and many experts and scholars are devoted themselves to the research on curriculum resources.Under the guidance of English New Standards,this research comprehensively uses questionnaires,interviews,class observations and the investigation of in-school resources to answer four questions:(1)What are primary school English teachers' attitudes towards the development and utilization of English curriculum resources in Nantong?(2)What is the situation of English curriculum resources developed and used by primary school English teachers in their teaching practices?(3)What are primary school pupils' attitudes towards resources used by their English teachers?(4)What is the situation of English curriculum resources used by primary school pupils?The result of the research shows that both English teachers' and pupils' attitudes towards English curriculum resources are optimistic.However,teachers are reluctant and don't take it their responsibility for developing and using English curriculum resources by themselves and also pupils are not active in using some English resources in their daily life.Therefore,the author has some suggestions,and hopes these can be of some helpfor English teaching in primary schools in Nantong.First,the English teachers should establish the scientific outlook on English curriculum resources.Second,the English teachers should open their mind and collect as many resources as they can.Finally,it is advisable to offer some good materials and encourage pupils to learn by themselves after class.
