As international cooperation has been widening, a good command of English will facilitate people’s communication. Domestically, students over-depend on the school to acquire English knowledge, whose English class centered with textbooks combined with limitation of teaching space has caused great disadvantage to students’ English learning. English curriculum standard has clearly put that to improve students’ English level and meet the demand of English teaching, we need spare no effort to develop English curriculum resources and bring more resources into class. The research, based on the backdrop of curriculum reforms of basic education, takes S Primary School as an example to discuss the strategies of developing and capitalizing on the curriculum resources in the primary school.The thesis, based on researches of the related documents, adopted the case study approach to inspect the school and collected real statistics through having deep interview with teachers, analyzing the schools’ text materials and having on-class observations. The thesis carried out its investigation in four dimensions including ideology, content, approaches and evaluation of the English curriculum resource development, then discussed the research status, summarized the successful experience and existing problems and finally provided some favorable strategies and enlightenment to the curriculum resource development in the primary school.Specifically, judging from the present facts of the school, the author divides the content of the primary school curriculum resource into text and non-text ones from the aspect of their presenting physical property and ways. Through investigation, we have found some practical approaches as follows: launching the play course based on students’ interest, making use of teaching human resources, digging out English school culture, enhancing teacher-parent communication, and exploring community English education resources. Some successful experience has been drawn from the evaluation of the effect as to two aspects of the in-time testing and evaluation, and after-class reflection: 1. Advanced ideology guides the developing direction. 2. Various networkresources provide wide platforms to the curriculum. 3. The play course gears up the English-featured school construction. 4. Optional English extra-curriculum resources improve students’ English level. 5. Fully-tapped outside school resources further expand the developing channels. However, problems still exist: 1. Participation on the play class falls short of expectation. 2. The school-based textbooks are not appropriately used. 3.Non-English major teachers still need improve their implementation competence. 4. The subject of evaluation is monotonous and the reflection cannot be done timely.As to the successful experience drawn from S Primary School, the thesis aims at enlightening educators to build diversified English curriculum awareness during the developing process and initiate all members to participate. As to the existing problems,the thesis aims at enlightening educators to consummate the developing system and accelerate the process of the English curriculum resource development in the primary school.
