With the development of science and technology, a lot of great changes have taken place in the human society. It is obvious that science and technology plays an important part in the changes. However, the history teaching for high school students hasn't given prominence to the history of science and technology history for a long time. The thesis tries to clarify the significance in the teaching of science and technology history by probing the changes of syllabuses or curriculums in history teaching, contents of history textbooks for high school and some problems in the course of teaching and studying.In this thesis all the syllabuses and curriculums (from the Qing Dynasty to nowadays) can be divided into three periods and seven steps, among which several typical syllabuses are analyzed in order to find out the different features and the reasons of changes. The result shows the proportion of the science and technology history was generally very low before the 1990s and sometimes it changed dramatically. Such phenomena were not only related to the turbulent situation at home and abroad, but also they are concerned with the lower level of the research on the history of in the science and technology. After the 1990s, the proportion of the science and technology history has rapidly increased—more than 10%, which was caused the rise of the Chinese international status, because science and technology is the first productive force.In terms of the contents of the history textbooks, the thesis shows many differences of the teaching of science and technology history in patriotism education, cosmopolitan outlook, humanism fostering by comparing old and new textbooks and different versions compiled according to the same curriculum standard.In addition, as far as the teaching practice is concerned, we can make use of different teaching methods to achieve different aims in the teaching of science and technology history. This thesis is devoted to illustrate with examples the charm of traditional lectures, practical investigations, and making models.I hope I can exchange some teaching experience with a large number of teachers by discussing some problems and significance of science and technology history in details of high history teaching.
