Nowadays, science and technology has played an increasingly important role in promoting the development of science and economics. Therefore, history of science and technology has taken a larger proportion than usual in history textbook for senior students and has become an important part of teaching contents of intellectual history. In the past, when dealing with the teaching contents of history of science and technology, lots of frontline teachers could not meet the requirements of the new curriculum standard for many reasons. This paper, based on the contents of science and technology in New Senior History for China Student’s Book 3 published by People’s Education Press in 2007, discusses:first, the compiling features and deficiencies of relative contents of science and technology in the text through analyzing the teaching material; second, the most common problems when the frontline teachers teach this part contents in daily teaching and the corresponding reasons; third, the difficulties confronted by teachers and students in daily teaching and learning and solutions; forth, the universal solutions for teaching the contents of science and technology in Student’s Book 3.The author thinks that there exist some problems in teaching history of science and technology, such as single teaching method, tepid academic atmosphere and difficulty in achieving the teaching aim of emotional attitude, etc. Therefore, the key to solve these problems is to improve the professional level and to expand knowledge reserves; to accurately master the students’ cognitive competence and difficulties in their learning of history of science and technology; and to strengthen the occupational moral construction and the sense of responsibility. In the real teaching, the author thinks that teachers should excavate cultural connotation behind the science and technology achievements; pay attention to training students’ scientific spirit and rational thinking; discover the inner relations between scientific-and-technological process and that of economy and politics. Besides, the teaching process should highlight the characteristics of the history course.This paper includes three parts:introduction, main body and conclusion. In the first part, it will illustrate the significance of the research, the research status and the approaches. The main body consists of two parts:one is to discuss the typicality of contents of science and technology in the text and the deficiencies of the teaching material; the other is to analyze the obstacles in teaching of history of science and technology and recommend solutions. In the ending part, it will appeal to frontline history teachers to contribute their strength by changing teaching ideas and teaching style.
