Over the last fifty years, Lu Xun's works of literature exceed other writers in number of all the Chinese teaching material of middle school. Most Chinese come to understand and know Lu Xun by the textbooks as well as the editor's interpretation. However, the teaching of Lu Xun's works is confronted with various practical problems. Many Chinese teachers of middle school feel it hard to teach Lu Xun's works, some of whom even find it out of the question. And many students of middle school also find them hard to reach and even out of reach. Getting close to Lu Xun would be the experts' wishful thinking if the problems such as plenty of teaching material concerning Lu Xun's works, the fear of teachers' teaching and the students' unwillingness to learn aren't settled. Therefore, every responsible Chinese teacher has to admit, contemplate and give their undivided attention to the fact.With the reform and rewrite of Chinese teaching material, some suggest less works of Lu Xun should be picked in view of the fact that there are insurmountable gap between the age and the language. Others hold a belief that Chinese teaching at present is like a centrifugal force in that the teacher's interpretation is simplified and the works of Lu Xun are sanctified; students conduct a utilitarian reading with the ultimate aim, that is, examination. All these elements contribute to the student's alienation from Lu Xun.With the purpose of making middle-school students get closer to Lu Xun in order to appreciate his sincerity and truthfulness and to be moved by his glamorous language, the thesis puts forward a tentative idea in the material selection, the teaching process as well as the possibility and necessity of Lu Xun's works being accepted by middle-school students.With regards to selecting the material, serving the students' psychological needs in reading is of immense importance. We should focus on their understanding and interest and build a ladder gradually going from the easy to the difficult and complicated. In addition, we are also supposed to give an equal emphasis to humanism and the classic works. Humanism is the basic requirement of Chinese teaching in middle school and our selection should reflect the essence of Lun Xun's concepts and works.In teaching, several problems should be paid attention to. First of all, the teaching target needs to be corrected and reoriented. Lu Xun should be given back his original shape. Our teaching target shouldn't be set too high, far beyond the student's actual acceptance. We shouldn't expect that we would accomplish something at one go. Secondly, we should reorganize each teaching unit, getting rid of the outmoded frame and laying emphasis on the systematic discipline. We should treat many of Lu Xun's works into a co-related system, taking care of the inner meanings and links of various texts in cultivating people's nature and in reforming Chinese people's character. Thirdly, we should update our concept in teaching. In other words, we are supposed to be original and creative in teaching methods and keep a dynamic balance between the author, the teacher and the student. Only in this way, can we achieve the ultimate goal: teaching benefits teacher and student alike.History never gives up its essence while developing. Time also proves that Lu Xun and his works play an irreplaceable role in Chinese teaching of middle school. Based on the research and survey carried out on middle-school students and some consequent assumption, I intend to make the students get closer to real Lu Xun, thus to devote my due effort to the teaching practice.
