In recent years,there has existed the phenomenon that much attention has been paid to the teaching of professional skills, while cultural education has been neglected in secondary vocational schools in China. So has the Chinese language education,which is consideded as one of the major cultural curriculum in vocational schools of science and technology. Thus students are not interested in the course and the teachers are not satisfied with their teaching. With the development of the national economy and society there is increasing need for the high-quality workers, which requires students not only to master more skills, but also possess higher quality of the humanities and to continue life-long learning and development ability. Language lessons determine the important position of language teaching in the engineering education.Language learning not only enables students to obtain the necessary language and cultural knowledge in order to promote the specialized learning, and a professional capacity, but also can improve their humanities quality to achieve all-round training purposes. Therefore, the language teaching must be reformedt.This paper takes Zaozhuang Industrial School, schools Tengzhou Vocational School of Science Technology as the main research object and questionnaire survey, interviews, observation, literature, and other research methods are explored to investigate the current situation of teaching and learning. Engineering students are poor in the general cultural knowlege, lack of learning motivation, lack of interest in learning. And the reason for this is largely due to the current backward language teaching . In recent years, the market economy-oriented, pragmatic thinking led to the quick success of vocational education . Less attention is paid to language lessons, cultural cultivation at schools and teachers can not keep up with the moderd teaching theory so that the teaching methods are simple, backward, teaching contents dull and old. Also, reasonable evaluation system has not been established yet. The existence of these problems seriously affected the quality of language teaching, the poor impact of improving the overall quality of students. Basing the language teaching practice in schools, the author proposes that school educators must change their thinking and have clear language teaching objectives. At the same time clear, appropriate language learning objectives are to be achieved by the students; A harmonious relationship between teachers and students should be formed and then through the improvement of language teaching contents language teaching methods may be improved so as to inspire students to learn.Students turn passive learning into active learning so that better achievements can be made in Chinese language teaching.
