With the development of economy, the advancement of science and technology and the upgrading of industrial structure in China, the society have been placing newer and greater requirements for talented personnel, especially after China's entry into WTO. Institutions of higher education should also comply with the needs of times and carry out reforms and development in education and teaching, of which course reform, as an important constituent, has evolved to be a difficult and hot issue for educational and teaching reform in each higher vocational institution. Taking the curriculum provision for animal products processing in Southwest University as a case study, the paper aims at, by researching into the curriculum provision for majors' specialty subject in higher vocational institutions, an analysis of the current situation and existing problems in the curriculum provision for animal products processing in Southwest University. On this basis, the paper proceeds to put forward the strategies for improving the curriculum provision for animal products processing in Southwest University and advance positive suggestions for perfecting the setup of courses for majors in institutions of higher vocational education.Consisting mainly of six parts, the paper can be summarized as:Part 1--Preface, which mainly deals with the significance of this research, summarization of related literature, and the way of thinking, content and methods of the research.Part 2--an analysis of the supposed status of the current curriculum provision for majors' specialty subject in higher vocational institutions, which suggests that curriculum provision for majors' specialty subject in higher vocational institutions should combine the nature of application in course goal, comprehensiveness in course content, flexibility in course organization, and variety in course implementation. Part 3--an analysis of the current situation of the curriculum provision for animal products processing, which points out the problems existing in it, like inaccurate orientation of the goal of the course, unreasonable course content, and monotonous approach to course implementationPart 4--an analysis of the reasons behind the problems existing in the curriculum provision for animal products processing from the three perspectives of course goal, course content and course implementationPart 5--starting from the aspects of goal orientation, the principles to be followed and several relations needed to be handled correctly, it offers an analysis of the strategies for improving the curriculum provision for animal products processing, provides its framework system, and puts forwards measures to guarantee the implementation of the course.Part 6--in this part it is suggested that the improvement of the curriculum provision for majors' specialty subject in higher vocational institutions should focus on the course development, target employment as the goal of the course, make capability cultivation dominate the course content, and realize the comprehensiveness and modularization of the course content.
