Ever since its introduction into China in the 1980s, competitive intelligence has been studied and used by corporate managers to build and strengthen the competitive edge of their corporations. Institutes of higher education in China today are confronted with an acceleration of competitions. To achieve a sustainable development and maintain their competitive edge, they must pay attention to competitive intelligence. However, the research and implementation of competitive intelligence is limited within the corporate community. It has not been widely extended to institutes of higher education.This paper discusses the need and explores the way to apply competitive intelligence to institutes of higher education by making a case study of Suzhou University. Not only does it point out some of the existing problems, but also suggests many solutions. |
