In 1977, Kyriacou and Sutcliff in Cambridge University first published a study on the teaching profession pressure in the educational review, in this article they defined teacher's professional pressure as one's unpleasant emotional experience which resulted from work, including tension, frustration, anxiety, anger, depression, etc. since then, pressure has gradually become a important topics in the field of the teaching profession . Although the definition of teaching profession pressure has not unified, many researchers have reached a consensus that this kind of pressure is the pressure teacher felt from teaching' demands, expectations and duties which can also be called as occupational stress.By investigating over 200 teachers of three vocational colleges in the ethnic areas of Hunan western part for the first time with the "teacher professional pressure questionnaire in higher vocational college" compiled by Guo-Liang Yu (Social Psychology Institute ,Department of Sociology in Chinese People's University)and Yan Dong (the Chinese Academy of Sciences of Mental Institute) ,it is found that nearly 46.3% teachers thought they are under the moderate occupational stress condition; nearly 13.7% teachers thought they are under the serious occupational stress condition, such result can be explained that teachers in this areas sense heavier occupational stress as a whole. their concrete performances are: 1, married teacher's professional pressure is more serious than the unmarried ones; 2, elder teacher's professional pressure is more serious than the younger ones, especially those who is 31-45 year-old ;3,those who have been teaching over 11 years are more serious than others on occupational stress; 4 ,those with higher professional titles felt more occupational stress,;5 teachers with other career certificate felt more stressed than others; 6 teachers with 12 classes or more in a week has deeper professional pressure; 7,teachers with monthly income over 3000 RMB are less stressed than the teachers whose monthly income under 3000 RMB.Through the comprehensive analysis to the overall occupational stress state and the difference between their stress, it is found that all the teaching professional pressure can be concluded to four sources: pressure coming form the large-scale changes of our society ;pressure coming from the development of school; pressure coming from the teaching problem of pupils and the pressure coming from the career development of teachers themselves.Based on the deeply analysis and carefully thought of the origin of teachers' occupational stress from three respects of society, school and teacher themselves ,this study proposed corresponding suggestions to ease their occupational stress senses: from the view of society, it should form a positive supporting environment to raise teachers' social and economic status; from the view of higher vocational college, it should pay more attention to teachers' career development on the one hand and create a good atmosphere in campus in order to embody people-oriented management concept on the other hand, it should also provide vocational and psychological counseling services for teachers. From the view of teachers themselves, they should have a positive attitude toward stress and when it comes, they can have a active response.
