With the reformation of curriculum, different textbooks have been published. At the same time, how to use textbooks in a creative way turns to be a hot topic. The way of teaching has been changed in some respects, but many teachers have not understood the inner meaning of using textbooks. Those teachers still keep the traditional way to pass the information of textbooks to students directly. They regard textbooks as the only teaching criterion and ignore the development of knowledge, ignore the whole structure of knowledge. Teachers do not understand the meaning of using textbooks and they lack of the ways to use textbooks, so many problems appear. On the basis of the problems, this thesis discusses the importance of "cultivate human" and puts forward the ways to use textbooks.Part one of this thesis presents the problem of textbooks which teachers pay attention to teaching knowledge and ignore the needs of students' growing. It also presents the problems of using textbooks which teachers conform to textbooks, use textbooks falsely, and add difficulty blindly. The reason of the problems is that teachers do not understand the meaning of "human growing" enough. They keep up the traditional way of using textbooks and do not understand the aim of using textbooks correctly.Part two of this thesis mainly presents the importance of teacher using textbooks. This part analyses the needs of using textbooks and likelihood of using textbooks. Firstly, the thesis shows the old teaching method does not fit the development of the society. Secondly, the thesis indicates that using textbooks is helpful for both teachers and students. Lastly, the thesis emphasizes that the abundant textbook resource and the consciousness of using textbooks can make using textbooks come true.Part three of the thesis mainly presents the principle and the strategy of using textbooks in a creative way for teachers. Firstly, the thesis indicates the principle of waking up the activity of knowledge symbols, including communicate knowledge symbols with lives of students, including communicate knowledge symbols with students' experience, including communicate knowledge symbols with students' practice. Secondly, the thesis provides the strategy of organizing knowledge in several dimensions, including link knowledge symbols, including link similar ways of thinking, including synthetically using textbook material. These principles and strategies are base on the idea of "cultivate human" and come from teachers' practice and exploration.
