Objective To assess safety situation of primary school-student and develop injury coping curriculum which based on physiological and psychological characteristics of primary school-student.Then provide theory basement for safety education of primary school-student in the future.Method Non-equal group and quasi-experiment design were used in this research. Two primary schools were extracted in Yanji primary schools by convenient sampling method, and randomly divided into experiment group and control group.Curriculum development was carried in experiment school according to PRECEDE-PROCEED model. All the data was input into computer and analyzed by Spss for Windows 13.0.Resultsâ‘ Safety situation and need assessment:primary school-student injury morbidity was 67.6%in 2006.Injury occurred mainly in school(56.9%),at home(40.3%) and on the road(12.1%);either in school or at home, falling injury was the main cause for students' injury;the main injury type was multiple injurie(51.3%).The top health risk behaviors existed among primary school students were playing fire(18.2%), non-check food period of validity(7.7%),non-wash hands before meals (5.3%).At present, passive protections were main measures for students to deal with injuries,89.4%school practitioners reacted timely to emergencies, 75.1%pupils considered there were emergency countermeasures in their schools.Only 44.1%and 62.2%pupils respectively answered there were courses of emergency technique training and sex education.Students' safety and emergency information were mainly from newspaper and television (56.7%),then from school(53.9%),family members and relatives(43.5%). 96.2%parents thought it was necessary for their children to accept emergency training;93.3%parents considered emergency training should be included in school daily education.86%students thought it was necessary to set safety and emergency courses in their conventional curriculum;in addition,95%students considered all of them should accept safety and emergency training.Parents and their child had different requirements to safety education. The top three safety education what parents required to provide to their child were traffic education, fire safety education and food poisoning education;while students wanted to accept education of school accidents treatment, traffic education and gas poisoning education. For safety education methods, the methods which students like best were in sequence of classroom lecture(37.9%),demonstrating and practice(27.3%), publicity materials(19.8%) and TV or film(15.0%).For safety education teachers, engaged specialists(56.8%) were the teachers students like most, and then were school practitioners(52.9%) and parents(45.6%).â‘¡Evaluation of injury curriculum development:scores of every subject in safety education of experiment school were higher than that of control school in post-education and there were significant differences between these two schools.Students' attitude toward safety education had significantly changed.Post-education students of experiment school considered more necessarily to include safety education in their conventional education either compared with control school or compared with itself before education. There were no significant differences in behavior changes between these two schools in post-education. Multiple-injury rate of experiment school(24.6%) was significant lower than that of control school(33.1%) while there was no significant difference in total injury rate between these two schools.Conclusionsâ‘ School should provide positive protection and construct safety education curriculum system which throughout primary, middle and high middle school;â‘¡Content of this injury coping curriculum contained traffic education, infectious diseases prevention, emergency staircases education, fire prevention education, food safety education, education of drowning prevention and emergency treatment, education of common injury treatment, education of gas poisoning prevention and treatment.Meanwhile Heimlich,CPR and adolescent physiological health education were as supplementary contents;â‘¢Injury education could significantly increase pupils' safety knowledge, improve their safety attitude. However injury coping curriculum development is not a one-time or static or concluded product,In order to improve students' health risk behavior safety education must be carried continuously. It is necessary to construct scientific emergency safety curriculum system to ensure emergency safety education in the future.
