Chinese teaching Materials are an important medium for students'Chinese learning. They contain a rich and important culture of genders, which will have subtle influence on students'outlooks on genders and life. This paper tries to study the female images in teaching materials of secondary school, especially those appearing after the new round of the compul sory education curriculum reform. By various research methods, such as literature, statistics and content analysis, it will study thoroughly the femalis'characteristics in the teaching materials and the influence that the ideology of genders which these images embody upon students.The female images in Chinese teaching materials will help students to form a correct concept of genders and have an objective attitude to females to good effect. With the help of correct guide, students can form a proper emotional attitude, a proper outlook of value and the idea of humanism. Thus, the author tries to discover the female image, an element of education, which is often ignored or even neglected. Its value of educating students can't be replaced. The author puts forward a sevies of constructive tactics about how to develop and make use of the female images in Chinese teaching materials. In order to deepen the reform, the author also proposes the following ideas: to guide students to diversify their understanding of the females in the works, to refleet on and study these female images in teaching materials, to form the idea of gender equality when collecting, compiling and using materials, to make the female images more vivid, comprehensive and objiective, and to respect the differences of genders in the teaching process and at the same time a void the passive consequences made by these differences.
