With the deepening of open policy and the development of socialist market economy, the employment pattern of university graduates has changed from the State "turnkey integration " to recommendation and then to the "two-way choice". And these changes provide university graduates with more opportunities to display their talents in a level playing field as well as great pressure. Also the expansion of enrollment of universities since 1999 has added to the severe situation. With the number of graduates rapidly increasing but job opportunities decreasing each year, the employment situation is getting even worse. This no doubt is a great challenge to college gradates. Faced with such great pressure, they are suffering from many psychological problems, which have bought about a lot problems such as social instability to our economy. Therefore a correct view of the college expansion and the increasing employment pressure are quite necessary, and great priority should be given to help college graduates out of the psychological problems so that they can achieve their social values.This thesis tries to analyze university graduates' psychological problems according to the psychological characteristics of this special group. The author have done a lot of research and made some relevant questionnaire. By using comparison and contrast examples and statistical information, the author comes to the conclusion that contemporary Chinese university graduates are self-centered, money-oriented while choosing a job. They also focus on the achievement of self-worth. They are competitive and they know that they should improve themselves in order to be more competent. They suffer from over-anxiety and panic, and they generally have high expectation of their job. They feel inferior and rely too much on their parents and school in job-hunting and etc. If these psychological problems are not reasonably and effectively directed and solved, they will generally result in psychological injury and violent behavior of college graduates as well as social conflicts. Meanwhile it will lead to the emergence of new "reading useless", and it will shake our education and social justice. This thesis conducts a comprehensive analysis of the causes of university students' psychological problems from the perspective of the government, institutions of higher learning, the students themselves. The author points out that it is the government's policy that has led to the university students' psychological problems, namely the government's has not have very good macro-control of the overall employment situation, not paid enough attention to university students' psychological problems and not have very effective supervision and guidance to universities in this respect. And on the part of colleges and universities, the professional setting, the disruption of supply and social demand, the neglect of ideological and political education and the lack of good employment guidance have led to the psychological problems of their students. The author also points out that, the students' irrational employment concept, inaccurate cognitive location, lack of good preparation and planning for their career are the subjective causes the psychological problems. In the last part, the author puts forward some practical and effective solutions to the psychological problems for the students in the course of employment to promote China's economic construction and social stability. First of all, the author argues that the Government should have good macro-control in terms of policy and guidance over employment problems and pay good attention to the psychological problems. It also should improve the employment-related policies, systems and establish laws and rules for psychological education of college students; second, the author also points out that colleges and universities, under the guidance of the government, should have effective implementation of management of the psychological problems of their students, and they should adapt to the job market's demand for qualified personnel and produce useful graduates to the society. They should strengthen ideological, political and psychological education so that the students can establish a correct outlook on life as well as a correct concept of employment. They should, at the same time, strengthen employment guidance to remove the psychological problems; finally, university students should establish a correct concept of employment and self-awareness. College students must make full preparation for employment so that they can face and overcome psychological obstacles gracefully and get employed successfully.
