The issue concerned in this paper is unfolded in the context of such a time when China's colleges are increasingly concerned about the teaching quality. This research is intended to resolve fundamental problem: in our country, local colleges holds the absolute quantitative superiority, what is the current situation of excellent teachers' teaching skill and how do they develop?College teaching has its own characteristics. Unfolding the study on teaching skill can contribute to the enhancement of college teaching quality, so as to advance the progress of the entire higher education.Based on observation from fifty-four teaching outstanding teachers in a college in Zhejiang, the paper has a deep interview material and collects first-hand information from fourteen of them. In order to emphasize the cases representative four cases out of fourteen, which are rich in information, are selected and explored. In various stages of the lesson preparation, teaching in class and class management, tests and examinations, teaching reflection, college teachers face with a lumber of contradictions and problems. How do they overcome and resolve them and lead to success?This paper is constituted of three parts.The first part shown as charter one, which includes research background, research questions, the significance of the researching, literature review, main concepts, the research process and methods.The second part(chapters 2—5), shows the study result by stages through the case analysis of some teachers such as professor L, professor D, professor X, and associate professor Y, by means of observation, interviews, and so on. College teachers' teaching skill is comparatively displayed according to four stages. Lesson preparation is the 1st stage, which mainly concerns the teaching time arrangement, syllabus, establishment of weekly journal, teaching purpose, possible result planning, work-out of the teaching plan, and subscription of textbooks. Teaching in class and class management constitute the 2nd stage, which mainly concerns the various unfolding of teachers' basic teaching skill, which is also an important aspect of the research on teaching in our country. The examination is the 3rd stage. Teaching reflection is the 4th stage. The growing-up of the excellent teachers will definitely enlighten the younger teachers' development in their specialty.The third part (chapter 6) is the conclusion of this research, which mainly includes the conclusion and the assumption of further study.
