In modern times, folk arts and crafts are on the verge of extinction today because of the way of production has been transformed and the way of people's lives and the spirit pursuit have changed. But more and more people in many countries are aware of the great potentialities and values in the course of internationalization. In our country, folk arts and crafts are the treasures of Chinese arts. developing and protecting the splendid Chinese folk arts and crafts is an inescapable duty in art education. Therefore, this thesis, based on the pragmatistic pedagogy, constructive theories of learning and multiple intelligence theory, attempts to combine theory and practice, researches the implement of folk arts and crafts in primary and middle school education, puts forward particular tactics in choosing the contents of teaching courses, methods and the evaluation to the students and teachers. The main purpose of this thesis is to offer valuable reference for art teachers who organize the folk arts and crafts in primary and middle school education. It is also hoped that students could gradually cherish our national culture and have a deep love for our folk arts and crafts and then reach the goal of developing and protecting the splendid Chinese folk arts and crafts.Firstly, this thesis discusses the importance and necessity of folk arts and crafts education in primary and middle school education through analysing the their basic facts and present situation. Chapter Two mainly discusses and analyses the national policy, the basic education for folk arts and crafts in primary and middle school education, the reformation of basic art education, the characteristics of folk arts and crafts and the teachers initiative to explore curriculum resources. Chapter Three introduces systematically how to study folk arts and crafts in art education. It contains the different curriculum contents, different ways of teaching and study in primary and middle school and introduces different methods for teachers and students to evaluate. This is my contribution and the most important part of this thesis. Chapter Four introduces my own experience and thinking in the folk arts and crafts educaton in our school. In the last part, the thesis states the significance of folk arts and crafts education in primary and middle school education.
