Teacher education is a task that is arduous and the road ahead is long. Normal universities have made great contributions to teacher education in China. And it will be a major force in teacher education field in the days to come. But we should also be aware of that comprehensive university rendering service to teacher education is not only the result of meeting the needs of objective reality but also the result of theory development and educational practices. Chinese government also promoted and mapped out a program to encourage universities give service to teacher education. Comprehensive universities have been a main power in teacher education. Compared with traditional normal universities comprehensive universities have many advantages such as personnel, fund, school spirit, high academic standards and good reputation. So they can gain the excellent source of school enrolment and become reserve forces to cultivate teaching staff. These advantages can be of benefit not only to raising students' academic level but also to gaining cultural attainments. Comprehensive universities rendering service to teacher education is the inexorable trend of the development of teacher education. The purpose of this study is to have a better understanding of the mechanism of comprehensive universities rendering service to teacher education. On the basis of this, we can provide theoretical guidance and development strategies.The writer consulted lots of documents and made a thorough research into the mechanism of comprehensive universities rendering service to teacher education.This thesis can be divided into four parts. The first part is the introduction to the study. It is just a brief introduction of this study. It tells reader why this study has been made and the objective, value, and current situation of related studies. In the second part, the writer analyses the external factors which produces a great impact on comprehensive universities rendering service to teacher education. Those factors in include national policies, teacher specialization, new reform of curriculum. Then, internal factors have been analyzed, such as orientation, teaching staff, fund and teaching conditions. In the third part, external mechanism of comprehensive universities rendering service to teacher education has been examined. Confronted with complicated environment, comprehensive universities need to bring better balance into the relations between various sectors. To be more specific, establish a market-oriented mechanism, strengthen the role government played in teacher education, and work together with elementary and secondary schools. Third, internal mechanism of comprehensive universities has been thoroughly studied. In the first place, orientation of comprehensive universities rendering service to teacher education has been analyzed. Next, the writer elaborated how to realize the integration of teacher education. Then, comprehensive universities should strengthen the force of teaching staff, optimize the curriculum and develop an information system for teacher education.In order to improve the quality of teacher education, we should establish the mode of teacher education development that conforms to the reality in China.
